About Kenwal Steel

Kenwal Steel Corp. was founded in 1947 by Sol Eisenberg in Detroit, Michigan as a modest but ambitious supplier of steel products. As with most new businesses, the initial years of the company, which was then called Kenwal Products Corporation, were marked by a limited range of operations and services.

The company's customers during this period were a small pool of automotive based manufacturers. During the 1960's, Sol's elder son, Kenneth Eisenberg, joined the business and helped lead its development into a more diverse and service oriented company. Kenwal began taking on new customers in different industries whose steel needs and requirements demanded that the company expand its own range of steel services.

The 1980's brought more development to Kenwal as its base of customers continued to expand and demands for steel products and services increased. Accordingly, a second steel plant, located in Gary, Indiana, was added to the company in 1984.

The 1990's brought even more changes at Kenwal, culminating in the company's landmark development of its new $20 million world headquarters in Dearborn, Mi. This state-of-the-art facility essentially doubled the company's capacity to provide flat rolled steel products and services, and also was constructed to include the latest on-site lab and computer technologies in the steel industry.

Today, Kenwal Steel Corp. is a full service steel processing center that provides a wide range of flat rolled steel products and services to various industries, including automotive, electronics, appliance, tubing, major equipment manufacturers, and other steel related businesses. The company continues to expand its operations and services to meet the ever changing needs and demands of its customers - present and future
